Fruit Picking, Corfe Castle: Our Family Day Out

10:54

I always feel like organising a day out with a younger baby is fairly difficult. Not because Theo won't benefit from any time outside exploring, but I want to do so many different things that I tend to lose focus. We decided as a family to really utilise our weekend together so we planned a jam packed day!

We researched local fruit picking plots based on the location and the kind of fruit I know Theo, and my husband, like to eat. Blueberries, raspberries; yum! We found the perfect spot, Lenctenbury Farm near Corfe Castle.

I packed us a picnic, the pram and my Babasling and off we went.

My husband has no issues with getting involved and carrying Theo in his sling. It's another way that we can bond with him and keep him close when the pram just won't work!
It was a lovely warm day, with a slight breeze so we didn't have to wrap up too much. It seems like a lot of work picking fruit, but it really is nice to do something different and makes for a cheap day out. No entry fee, all you do is pay for the fruit you picked!

So back in the car we went, and decided to take our picnic up to Corfe Castle. We now had a ton of fruit to eat alongside our yummy sandwiches.

I love to visit National Trust plots, but for all three of us it would have been over £20. To keep cost down, we picked a picnic place with a magnificent view and no pennies spent.

We slathered Theo in suncream, and kept time out of the pram in the sun to a minimum. We ate lunch nearer to 3pm, when the sun's fierceness was reduced! Who can beat eating outside? We love it.

Our final stop was Hamworthy Park. If any of you visit Poole/Bournemouth, this place is worth your time! A lovely outdoor play park, and shallow pool, all on the beach. (When I say beach, that is a stretch, but there is sand that leads to the sea!!!) Beautiful. The only difficulty is the parking! There is a free car park, but it's usually jammed. My suggestion would be to really consider time of day!

As Theo is not yet walking, the swing is about as much he can do in the heat at a play park. No crawling allowed, when the floor is that hot!

I always find that being outside all day makes me very sleepy, and it was the same for every member of the Notarbartolo household that night. Bed early and sound snoozing!

What are some of your favourite days that you've planned for your bubba's?
