LONELY MAMA, I GOT YOU

13:46

Walking down a street, amidst the hustle and bustle and feeling like you are the only one.

Filling moments with chores or errands and wondering what your life purpose is.

In the coffee shop, sipping tea while bubba naps in the pram trying to keep your attention on the glossy mag lay on the table when really all you feel is...

alone.

The bitter sweet irony of loving every moment with your children coupled with a subtle pang of sadness or pain.

Refreshing your phone to check for messages, notifications, anything.

Where some days are a struggle and no social media chit chat is gonna get you through.

Middle of the night feeds, pre-nap time tantrums, refusal to eat food or poop on the floor. When you've got washing coming out of your ears, plates in the sink and crumbs in the sheets.

Don't worry, I got you.

We are here.

It takes a village to raise a child and us mummas need our neighbours.

We need conversation, empathy and camaraderie. To feel like we're doing all this with a supportive backing.

As parents, myself included, we are quick to judge a scenario. A tantrum, a misdemeanor, a raised tone or a scolding, we assume a circumstance that may be further from the truth. Let's pick each other up, hold each other's hands and tell each other it's gonna be okay.

When you see fellow mumma and/or dadda in the supermarket with said kid on the floor, wailing like a banshee... smile, nod along with empathy and if that's never been you, happy days, avoid eye rolling or smug appreciation for your own child's easy temperament.

No one wants to be the parent trying to manage irrational behaviour. We want an easy, love-filled life.

I guess the purpose of this post is to comfort those that do feel lost, to know that if no one else, I am there as an ear, a DM on Twitter or Instagram, okay not the most intimate or personable but I am there. For people to reach out to one another and take care. Mums, dads, care givers need support because we all know how rewarding this journey can be, but my god is it hard too.

You are doing amazingly, be confident in your love and never be ashamed. We are who are.
